Capital Campaign

The Imagine Tomorrow Capital Campaign began in 2021 and continues through December 31, 2026. The initial goal of this campaign was to eliminate the debt that Covenant had incurred in renovating the main church building as well as purchasing and renovating the Covenant Community Life Center (CCLC). With great gratitude, the Session (board of Elders) of Covenant announced in late 2025 that all mortgage debts had been retired!
Session has announced a goal of directing all money given in 2026 to the Imagine Tomorrow campaign towards mission, in alignment with the church's intentions when work on these buildings began in 2014. Three Covenant mission partners have been identified as having specific capital expense needs that we can meet if we work together: Broad Street Love (Philadelphia), Faith Ministry (Reynosa, Mexico), and Villages in Partnership (Malawi). All gifts collected in 2026 will go towards these wonderful missions as an expression of gratitude to God!
The Mission Committee recommended that these funds support Covenant partner mission organizations and support long term projects, which is why these missions were chosen with the following goals:
Broad Street Love (BSL) formerly Broad Street Ministries – Stemming from an AIM program in 2015, Covenant members began making monthly visits into Philly to assist with the BSL meal program in April 2016. Those visits still continue nine years later. BSL is looking to make essential kitchen updates to lights, plumbing and kitchen equipment in order to meet the growing needs of their meal program.
Faith Ministry (Reynosa, Mexico) – Learning about Faith Ministry in 2002, Covenant began this now over 23 year relationship by participating in a mission trip to Reynosa, Mexico in 2003. Since then, 50 different congregational members have traveled to Mexico on one of our yearly trips to build relationships and homes. In 2014 we also began to sponsor scholarships and have supported 7 students over the years, watching them grow year after year. Two congregational members have served on their board of directors. VBS children have written letters to our scholarship recipients there. Our youth group participated in a mission trip one summer as well. Faith Ministry would like to add to their new Deantin Community Center in Naranjito on the outskirts of Reynosa by the addition of a patio and grill area. They would then be able to host community meals for special events feeding spiritual hunger as well as physical.
Villages In Partnership (VIP) (Malawi, Africa) – starting with an AIM program in 2016, different Covenant groups have sewn and collected items for this organization. Four years ago Covenant (through Pastor Alex and the Mission Committee) entered into a partnership with VIP to become a supporting congregation. In 2024 we sent a team to their gala and in 2025 a team participated in our first friendship trip to Malawi. A Covenant member is both a director and staff member with VIP and has travelled to Malawi many times. Covenant is supporting a Grain Bank through VIP, which brings sustainable economic stability to a community in need.
These projects are life-changing, with long term impacts for the people served by these missions. Thank you for your continued support for Imagine Tomorrow which helps us make this giving possible! With our goal of $60,000, the funds will be distributed as follows, so that each organization gets a significant amount of money even if our full goal is not reached. In the event a phase is only partially funded as of 12/31/2026, the amount that had been collected up to that point will be given.
- Phase 1: $12,000 to BSL
- Phase 2: $12,000 to Faith Ministry
- Phase 3: $20,000 to VIP
- Phase 4: $8,000 to BSL
- Phase 5: $8,000 to Faith Ministry
- Phase 6: Remaining funds given before 12/31/2026 to VIP
The following is a copy of the message sent to all capital campaign donors in December of 2025, including an FAQ on what happens next.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for bringing Covenant to this point of paying off our mortgages. Four years ago when the Imagine Tomorrow capital campaign launched, Session had no idea that we would be fully paying off our mortgage over one year faster than anticipated. Thank you! And we hope you come to the Burn the Mortgage celebration dinner early next year, for which an invitation is coming soon.
You may have questions about your donations, and we would love to answer them. Just reply to this email or call 610-648-0707 to schedule a time to talk with Pastor Alex or a member of our finance committee. We would look forward to speaking with you. At the bottom of this are a few common questions and answers.
Again, thank you for your incredible generosity! Words cannot express our gratitude for you answering God's call to generous giving for the sake of others.
Blessings,
Pastor Alex and Pastor Maggie
Common Questions and Answers:
- What is happening with excess donations?
- The final mortgage payment was made in November using funds received prior to that date. Funds received on or after 11/15/2025 are being held in a special Imagine Tomorrow Fund. If you contributed to Imagine Tomorrow (this most recent capital campaign beginning in 2021) after that date, you have a choice for how to direct those funds:
- Join in a special mission giving effort to capital projects for Covenant mission partners! All funds remaining in the Imagine Tomorrow Fund after 6 months will automatically go towards these special mission projects.
- Move these already given funds to the General Fund to help the church accomplish new and existing ministries every day.
- Move these already given funds to Capital Expenses to maintain and protect our capital investments.
- Contact the church for other options.
- What if I haven't yet fulfilled my pledge?
- You are not required to complete your pledge since our debts have been paid. However, you are invited to continue giving using one of these options:
- Continue giving towards Imagine Tomorrow to support special mission projects designated by Session and Mission Committee
- Redirect your remaining pledge amount to the General Fund to help the church accomplish new and existing ministries every day.
- Redirect your remaining pledge amount to Capital Expenses to maintain and protect our capital investments.
- Contact the church for other options that fit with your personal giving strategy.
- What are these "special mission projects"?
- At the beginning of Covenant's capital campaigns in 2014, Session decided to tithe a portion of the money spent towards mission. In 2025, Session and the Mission Committee reaffirmed that decision by designating 3 life-changing capital projects of Covenant mission partners as potential recipients of future fundraising efforts. Those recipients are Broad Street Love, Philadelphia; Faith Ministry, Reynosa, Mexico; and Villages in Partnership, Malawi. More information about these projects is above.
